This comes from our friend, supporter and adviser Susan C. Hammond:
Please contact your senators and representivives: it”s easy…see link below
I am concerned with the $20 million cut to funding for the National Endowment for the Arts in the FY 2012 House Interior Appropriations bill. While the arts community recognizes the shared sacrifice being asked of all federal agencies to help reduce our national debt, this cut is disproportionate and is counter-productive to growing American jobs and strengthening our economy.
I”ve written to my senators and representative several times about cuts to the cultural programs and I will continue to do so. All of the politicians in Washington need to imagine a world without
the Smithsonian or the Kennedy Center. It is through creativity we have been able to train scientist to put men on the moon, unlock the human genome, and find cures to major illness. Creativity comes from exposing students to the arts.
Maybe in our lifetime and mine we won”t see what these cuts do but be assured our children and their children will. It will be yet another way we leave a worse off world to them!
Please act by contacting your senators & representatives asking them to prevent the funding cut. Use this link:
