Interfaith Social Services hosted its Thirteenth Annual Feed the Hungry Gala on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Lombardo’s Function Facility in Randolph, MA. Hundreds of local residents gathered for this festive event with entertainment by Syd Slacks and His Elastic Waist Band.
Interfaith Social Services is a center for families in need. They have been serving the South Shore since 1947, programs include: The Pantry Shelf food program which distributed over 430,000 pounds of food to hungry families last year. HomeSafe, a homelessness prevention program which kept over 200 South Shore families in their homes this year. New Directions Counseling Center which has a special program that enables clients who can not afford counseling to receive the help they need.
“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response of support from the community,” said Rick Doane, Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services. “Over 300 people danced together and kicked off the holiday season by generously supporting Interfaith Social Services. In sixty years of service here on the South Shore we have never experienced the level of demand that we are seeing right now. Thousands of local families are suffering; it is heartwarming to see the community come together at an event like this to support their neighbors in need.”
“The event was a huge success,” said Tom Williams, Co-Chairman of the event “With the charitable support from our community members and sponsors, Interfaith Social Services will receive much appreciated funding!”
