How to grow your blog is one of the biggest topics most asked about when I present about blogging. In general there are three major things that most bloggers need to keep in mind:
- Create great content.
- Blog consistently.
- Read and comment on blogs in your subject matter.
Commenting on other blogs is a very powerful way to grow your blog. It does two things; first in improves your visibility and presence on the web, and second, it gives links (remember google loves links) back to your blog. Blogging is about expressing your expertise and commenting on other posts in your given area is just another way to demonstrate your knowledge.
Comments on posts need to be relevant to the post, short, and add to the conversation. Basically they need to add value to the topic. Just for fun I thought I give a few examples of spam comments that we get every day. Spammers are not adding to the conversation which is the most important element to getting your comments approved. Here are a couple of examples of what not to do.

I’ve been seeking for a while to have a beneficial content articles that is related to this subject . Researching in Yahoo and google I ultimately located this website. Seeing this info I’m just lucky to enunciate that I’ve got a wonderful impression I stumbled onto everything that I was ready for. I will make certain to don’t forget this website and take a look constantly.
As you can see, neither of these comments did anything to add to the conversation and are only people trying to increase links. Add to the conversation and you’ll get the links!
