Write Proposals – Get Grants

The first mystery solved is that you are writing proposals and getting grants. The second mystery is that writing is a very small portion of what you do to get a grant and it comes at the end of the process.

Jane uses an eleven step process:

1. Know your mission
2. Know the needs statement (not what you need, what your clients need)
3. Know the program (normally programs are funded, not general operations)
4. Know your budget
5. Research who you are sending the proposal to
6. Know their terminology
7. Do the actual research
8. Know the relationship
9. Write the proposal
10. Look at the attachments
11. Do a final Review
