Quincy, MA – October 25, 2010 – Quincy’s Tirrell room will be transformed into a little piece of Germany on Friday November 5th. The Masons of the 8th Masonic District and the Quincy Elks are sponsoring the Quincy Oktoberfest to benefit Interfaith Social Services’ food pantry. Participants will enjoy traditional German food, six types of specialty Oktoberfest beer, a selection of wine and liquor, two DJs on two separate floors, Raffles: including two large screen LCD TVs, and many more exciting items.
“Events like these are great for a sense of community,” said Stephen Ziolkowski member of both the Quincy Elks and 8th Masonic District, “First we get together and have a great time with our friends and neighbors; and secondly, by knowing that events like this one are helping countless people across the South Shore make their lives a little better.” Rick Doane Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services said “We are so grateful for benevolent organizations such as the 8th Masonic District and the Quincy Elks. Due to the current recession our food pantry is experiencing record high numbers of clients coming through our doors asking for help. Last year we distributed over 430,000 lbs. of food to hungry South Shore families. We could not meet the current demand for service without the support of community oriented organizations like the Masons and the Elks.”
Last year the event attracted almost 300 participants and raised over $8,500 to help feed hungry South Shore residents. If you’d like to attend the event advance tickets are $20/person, $25 at the door. Admission includes dinner and entertainment. You can purchase tickets online at www.interfaithsocialservices.org or call 617-773-6203 for more information. Festivities commence at 6:30pm on Friday, November 5, 2010 at The Tirrell Room, 254 Quarry Street, Quincy, MA. Please note you must be 21 to attend the event, proper ID is required.
