During a 15 minute research session this week, I learned the following information:
- Ninety-three percent of nonprofits say they regularly monitor social media, up 18 percentage points from the study a year earlier.
- NBC Universal Foundation awarded a total of $800,000 in grants to 26 nonprofits in six cities across U.S. to improve secondary education in underserved communities.
- UPS and its employees and retirees this summer will have made $1 billion in total contributions to United Way since company began annual workplace campaigns in 1982.
In preparing a budget, what’s most important is that everyone involved in creating and approving the budget understands the assumptions made. In addition, I discovered that I could participate in webinars taught by experienced professionals on topics such as “Recession Proof Fundraising” and “Engaging Your Board for Community Impact” for only $30. I also learned that I could access extensive special reports and interviews on a multiplicity of topics on fundraising, marketing and leadership development.
For those of you in Week Four of the “Fifteen Minutes a Day Research Challenge”, this is the week to go to www.philanthropyjournal.org. This is a very easy site to navigate and it will also give you many links that you can bookmark for next week’s research.
