Barbara Cotton Executive Director of The Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee gets a check from Reiko and Janel of The Non-Profit Toolbox
Last night The Non-Profit Toolbox held it’s first Meet-up for Non-Profits on Cape Cod at the Cape Cod Museum for Natural History. It was a great and informative event with 30 people from the nonprofit sector attending and sharing information on what they need and would like to see to help them accomplish their missions. The information from the group was powerful and will help us design what we can provide to this under-served sector.
Here is what the group said would help:
- Individual consulting – 1 on 1 direct help (maybe a list of service providers with referrals)
- HR help – How much should NP’s be expected to pay for services
- Finding the right Board Members (willing to fund raise, share their business expertise, who do you need & when?)
- Improve/Increase NP’s “Buying Power” (Collective insurance, accounting, HR)
- Identify “legitimate resources” for NP’s
- Informal consortium of Executive Directors
- Best Practices Round tables on various topics
- Email/Communication with consistent updates on chosen topics
- MSO – 1 stop shopping for all the tools NP’s need and want
- Preferred method of contact is Email
Overall this was a very successful event and gives us a lot to work on. We are planning for several more of these event in the fall and through next year. We want to thank our Non-Profit Partners the Cape and Islands United Way and Cape Cod Museum of Natural History for making this event possible.
