I am a fan of Linkedin, and here is a great example of how powerful it can be for gathering information, and connecting with other non-profit organizations.
There is a great discussion going on Linkedin in the Non Profit Network – MojaLink Group: What Do You Think are the Top 5 Things Non-Profits Need Most?
It currently has 128 comments, with much thoughtful insights and conversations.
Some of the thoughts: Build a strong foundation: an educated board, and a strategic plan, marketing help, strong networking abilities. Branding that flows from reputation, a mission that can be communicated easily, strong leadership, good management and funding are some of the basics.
I could go on, but you get the idea, and you can read the details on Linkedin. So how does a NPO move forward? How do they assess if they have an “educated” board, what do they do to correct some of the short falls? When should they bring in “professionals”? How do these differ from any business? What do you think?
