Using Social Media
We believe that other than you and your co-workers, your presence on the web and use of social media is the most important marketing and public relations your organization can do. Heather Mansfield of Nonprofit Tech 2.0 posted the 11 most interesting results from 34 polls she ran through 2009 on social media use by non-profit organizations. Here is a sample from her survey:
4) ATTN Donors: Do you prefer to give $$$ to your favorite organizations via: [http://twtpoll.com/f3em80]:
71% The organization’s website
13% Check/snail mail
11% An online giving portfolio service (like Change.org)
5% A social networking site (like Facebook)
How non-profits interact and grow their communities will have a long term impact on their ability to survive in this currently challenging economy and thrive when the economy improves. Your organizations presence on the web and use of social media tools will have a direct impact on it’s success now and in the future.
