Google checkout for non-profits announced in December that they are extending free check-out for non-profits participating in their Google Grants program. All other non-profits will be charged the normal fees for check-out as well as the credit card fees. So it may be worth your while to check out the Grants program, and learn about Google Adwords.
They also ran some A/B tests on donations using blank with a suggested donation, $20, $50 and $100 and other combinations. And had some surprising results…Read their full blog post here.
Our conclusion from this data was that leaving the suggested donation amount blank seemed to result in the greatest number of donations and the total amount of donations collected. Of course, every organization will have its own unique results, but we’d encourage you to run these experiments for your organization as well!
So now is the time to take a look at the Google Grants program, and maybe revisit your donation suggestions.
