Lisa Morrissey from the NP Toolbox interviews Rick S Doane, Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services. Interfaith is a one stop shop for families in need. They are specific to the South Shore of Massachusetts. Their services included: a food pantry, counseling center, thrift shop, a career closet, and a home safe program.
Read highlights from the interview below.
Interfaith has tremendous support from their local community which supplies a completely volunteer workforce and board of directors.
One of the challenges Rick sees is the fine line between running a business while maintaining strong community support. It’s important to maintain strong support of the local community. Interfaith does this by holding community fundraisers and events to stay active within the community. Another challenge is to make themselves stand out. This is accomplished by making their events unique and marketing them as such. A third challenge is to recognize they are a business and need their mission to include everyone to “buy into” that mission by providing outstanding customer service.
December 3, 2009 they are holding their 12th annual Feed the Hungry event at Lombardo’s.
